All members of the NLRK are welcome to use the Internet in the American Center. To have access to the Internet you will have to follow Library's Rules for Internet.
The National Library of the Republic of Karelia provides access to a broad spectrum of information sources, among them the Internet. Access to the Internet is part of general library policy for satisfying the information needs of all types of patrons.
The Internet offers the possibility of free access to information resources worldwide. However, patrons should remember that not all information on the Internet is reliable, extensive, up to date. The Library is responsible only for information located on the server of the NLRK.
Terms of access to the Internet:
Regular and temporary readers of the NLRK may have access to the Internet upon showing their tracking form
The bibliographer on duty may give brief consultations on searching the information on the net
If a patron cannot find information needed independently, he may place a request for a search for this information with the bibliographer on duty. The bibliographer on duty will determine how long it will take to fill the request. This service is fee-based
Training on the Internet use skills is organized once a month
Information received may be copied to a diskette or printed on a printer for a charge. Before copying to a diskette, the bibliographer on duty must confirm that the diskette is virus-free
Internet use for the first hour is free of charge
Patrons are not permitted to:
Load data and store them on the hard drive, change the configuration and structure of the computer
Participate in chat-groups
Use the Internet for commercial (placing advertisements), unethical, illegal purposes.
In case of infringement of these rules the readers lose their rights to use the Internet.
